English: Sold for CNY 10 or so. Sending apples on Christmas eve has become a new X-mas custom in China, where Christmas is nearly secularized. The reason? Christmas Eve is called "平安夜" (píng’ān yè) in Chinese, while apples (苹果, píngguǒ) sounds like something "peaceful", therefore people began sending apples for season's greetings, regardless of any Christian taboos.
